Disability

CHASE's research in the area of disability focuses on exploring ways to foster the inclusion of people with diverse disabilities in active lives of their choice. This incudes a suite of research addressing:

  • photo of a person in a wheelchairbarriers to inclusion (such as attitudes, infrastructure, practice approaches)

  • practices to foster inclusion, recognising the experience and level of social exclusion of people with disabilities

  • outcomes for people with disabilities who are in receipt of services and supports, and

  • the effectiveness and quality of targeted interventions to support inclusion (such as the provision of assistive technology, or mentoring of employees with disabilities)

Current research includes a number of PhD and Masters students undertaking research projects and ARC Linkage projects and industry and government funded research. Deakin enjoys productive partnerships with a range of human service and disability industry organisations that both support and collaborate on research activity, e.g. partnership with Scope Victoria
