Racism. It stops with me
Deakin University is proud to pledge its support for the Australian Human Rights Commission's 'Racism. It Stops with Me' campaign, a key initiative of the National Anti-Racism Strategy.
Racism. It Stops With Me is a campaign which invites all Australians to reflect on what they can do to counter racism wherever it happens.
Through this campaign Deakin aims to:
- ensure more people recognise that racism is unacceptable in our community
- give more people the tools and resources to take practical action against racism
- empower individuals and the organisation to prevent and respond effectively to racism.
It is against the law to discriminate against a person because of their race, colour, nationality or national origin, ethnicity or ethnic origin, descent or ancestry. However, one in five Australians says they have experienced some form of racism.
