Student access programs
Deakin University runs a number of programs, events and partnerships focused on helping all students to access university.
Deakin works with around 30 schools through the Deakin Access and Engagement Program (DEAP).The program aims to encourage achievement and aspirations towards higher education.
DEAP activities include mentoring, campus visits, study sessions and careers and pathways advice.
Access Express is an intensive schools partnership program, working with seven partner schools. Like DEAP, the program aims to encourage achievement and aspirations towards higher education.
The program works with schools, students and parents/carers and offers activities at each year level, such as mentoring, study skills and residential camps.
Access Express receives funding through the Higher Education Participation and Partnerships Program (HEPPP) of the Commonwealth of Australia.
