Barwon Health and Deakin University Research Week showcases local research activities and includes guest lectures by prominent Geelong researchers, various presentations, and education sessions aimed at early career researchers.

Highlights of the week include:
- Monday, Nov 13, 4-6pm: Opening Session with keynote scientific speaker Associate Professor Helen Abud from Monash University on 'Personalised cancer medicine: Using organoids to take the guesswork out of treatment' with closing remarks from Deakin’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) Professor Peter Hodgson.
- Tuesday, Nov 14, 5-6.30pm: Public forum on doctor-patient communication with School of Medicine’s Professor Peter Martin.
- Wednesday, Nov 15, 2-3.30pm: Inaugural Professorial lectures, featuring Professors Felice Jacka (Director, Food and Mood Centre) and Peter Vuillermin (School of Medicine).
- Wednesday, Nov 15, 5-6.30pm: Public forum on childhood obesity with Professor Steve Allender, Global Obesity Centre.
- Thursday, Nov 16, 5pm: Harrison Innovation Lecture delivered by Alfred Deakin Institute for Citizenship and Globalisation’s Professor Emma Kowal and the awarding of the 2017 Barry Jones Medal by the Honourable Barry Jones AC.
- Friday, Nov 17, 12.30-1.30pm: Barwon Health and Deakin University panel discussion on physician-assisted dying, enabling the public to hear first-hand both sides of the voluntary euthanasia debate.
All events are free, but registration for each event is essential.
