The School of Life and Environmental Sciences Alumni Chapter is delighted to invite you to a presentation by Professor Brett Bryan, China's comprehensive response to a national sustainability emergency.

Brett will present the work of his large interdisciplinary team in synthesising China’s recent unrivalled investment in sustainability through a comprehensive and integrated portfolio of 16 major programs and their impacts across a range of sustainability issues including rural poverty and development, agriculture and food security, deforestation, land degradation, grassland management, water quality, dust storms and floods, desertification, and biodiversity conservation. Investing hundreds of billions of dollars, covering hundreds of millions of hectares, and engaging hundreds of millions of people since 2000, China’s sustainability programs are by far the largest and most comprehensive sustainability initiative ever undertaken.

Brett Bryan currently holds the position of Professor of Global Change, Environment, and Society in the Centre for Integrative Ecology, School of Life and Environmental Sciences, at Deakin University.
