Deakin Law School is proud to present Stanford cybersecurity expert, Dr Herb Lin who will present, ‘Cyber-Enabled Information Warfare and the End of the Enlightenment.’
Event details
Deakin’s own authority on International Security, Dr Shiri Krebs (who also hails from Stanford), will provide a commentary on the presentation focused around ‘Between Facts and Fiction in Information Warfare’.
This promises to be a fascinating exploration of the increasing use of cyber-enabled information warfare (CEIW) over conventional military power and the implications for society and decision-making. His paper will cover a number of very topical considerations: In what ways are current information and communications technology being used to influence decision-making activities of an adversary?; What effective countering measures can be implemented, given that this hostile activity is not recognised as warfare as construed by international law or domestic institutions?; If effective countering measures are not found and enforced, does CEIW have the ability to significantly reduce societal discourse that is grounded in reason and objective reality?
Please arrive at 4:15 PM for a 4:30 PM start. The presentation will conclude with a reception.
Please register so we can manage catering requirements.
