Superfoods or Supermyths – Warrnambool Alumni Event
22 February 2017
5.30 pm - 8.00 pm
Warrnambool
Just what exactly makes a food 'super'? Join us at the annual Warrnambool alumni seminar and networking event as Dr Tim Crowe presents Superfoods or Supermyths.
Event details
Superfood is a widely used catch-all phrase, common on the Internet and in the marketing of exotic (and normally expensive) fruits and vegetables. During his presentation Tim will reveal the truth behind some of the so called popular 'superfoods' and sort out the marketing hype from the reality. Tim will also emphasise the importance of food variety, and present his own list of 'Top ten foods to consume' he recommends to eat and will explain why they are so good for you.
The seminar will be followed by drinks and canapés, so you can reconnect with other Deakin Alumni. You are welcome to bring along one guest – please advise their name at the time of booking.
Dr Tim Crowe
Tim is a career research scientist and educator in the fascinating, yet controversial, area of nutrition. He has spent the last 16 years working at Deakin University in the Faculty of Health. Tim is actively involved in several areas of nutrition research including specialised nutrition in the prevention of surgical complications; malnutrition identification; and nutrition support in wound healing. Tim has an active media profile together with a growing social media following from his Thinking Nutrition blog and Facebook page which he uses to communicate important nutrition messages to the public in plain and simple language.
Join the alumni community in Warrnambool as Dr Tim Crowe separates the superfoods from the supermyths.
