It is our pleasure to invite you to the ‘International Research Forum on Multi-owned Properties’, a multidisciplinary forum being hosted by Deakin Business School (Department of Finance) with the support of the UNSW Australia (Faculty of Law and City Futures Research Centre), Griffith University (Business School) and Lawyers Chambers on Riley.
The forum brings together Australasian and international academics and researchers to share their knowledge and research on multi-owned properties (strata title, unit title, high rise, subdivisions with owners' corporations, private housing estates, condominiums, common interest developments, homeowner associations and other similarly structured properties).
Discipline and field of research areas may include, but are not limited to: Planning, Geography, Law / policy, Sociology, Built environment, Architecture, Construction studies, Tourism studies, Property and real estate studies, Economics, Social science, Environmental science, Management, Design.

The organising committee is also delighted to announce the inclusion of two highly regarded academics who have each contributed substantially to our understanding of multi-owned properties.
Professor Amnon Lehavi (J.S.D, Yale), Law School Dean - IDC Herzliya, Israel
Prof. Amnon Lehavi is Dean and Atara Kaufman Professor of Real Estate, Radzyner Law School and serves as academic director of the Gazit-Globe Real Estate Institute.
He is a leading authority on property, real estate, land use controls, international economic law, and law and globalization. He is the author of The Construction of Property: Norms, Institutions, Challenges (Cambridge University Press, 2013) and editor of Private Communities and Urban Governance: Theoretical and Comparative Perspectives (Springer, 2016) and Gated Communities (Nevo Press, 2010).
Prof. Lehavi has published extensively in top journals, including the Columbia Law Review, Virginia Law Review, Texas Law Review, Georgetown Law Journal, Minnesota Law Review, Law and Social Inquiry, Yale Journal of International Law, and Chicago Journal of International Law. Prof. Lehavi has also edited a recent book: One Hundred Years of Zoning and the Future of Cities (Springer).
Professor Belinda Yuen, Lee Kuan Centre for innovative Cities (LKYCIC) - Singapore University of Technology and Design
Professor Yuen is a qualified urban planner. Aside from master planning practice, Belinda has extensive research and publication in spatial planning and urban policy analysis, most recently, on planning livable, sustainable cities.
She has been elected to President, Singapore Institute of Planners (2005-08), and Vice-President, Commonwealth Association of Planners (South-east Asia) (2006-08; 2010-12; 2014-16). Belinda has served on various Singapore urban planning committees including as Planning Appeals Inspector, and on numerous international advisory committees including International Advisory Board of United Nations State of World’s Cities Report 2008/09; United Nations Global Research Network on Human Settlements (2008-11); Working Group of United Nations Commission on Legal Empowerment of the Poor, Editorial Board of international journals - Asia Pacific Planning Review; Regional Development Studies; Cities; Journal of Planning History, Journal of Comparative Asian Development, among others.
Registration includes: attendance to all sessions, morning and afternoon tea, lunch and forum dinner.

Standard conference registration - $480 (including GST)
Postgraduate student registration - $260 (including GST)
Additional dinner ticket - $100
Cancellation of registration must be made in writing to the conference Chair. Fees paid will be refunded as follows:
- cancellation on or before January 29, full payment less administration fee of $60
- cancellation after January 29, no refund
Registrations are transferable to a colleague at any time prior to the conference, provided the conference Chair is advised in writing.

Call for abstracts
We invite researchers to submit an extended abstract to the forum in any discipline or field of research relating to multi-owned properties. Abstracts should be between 800 and 1000 words. For empirical based studies the abstract should include the research focus, methods, results/findings and main conclusions and/or recommendations.
We would also like to extend an invitation to researchers who would like delegate feedback on current / working research projects. Researchers will have an opportunity to present their work (5 minute allocation) to the delegate audience. A short overview of the research topic is required including the project title.
Abstract deadline: Monday 20 November 2017
Abstract acceptance: Monday 4 December 2017
Acceptance of abstracts will constitute confirmation that the delegate will be scheduled in event's agenda as a forum presenter.
