Professor Chris Hickey

Professor Hickey is readily called on to provide expertise and leadership within his discipline, wherein he was made a Fellow of the Australian Council for Health, Physical Education and Recreation in 2010. In 2014 he received an Outstanding Professional Service Award from the Council of Professional Teaching Associations of Victoria. He was previously a recipient of a Citation from the Carrick Institute for excellence in the field of Doctoral education.

Chris is Chair of Deakin's Academic Board. He was an expert reviewer on the Australian National Curriculum and is a member of the Routledge Education Panel of Experts in recognition of his role as Chief Editor of the Asia Pacific Journal of Health, Sport and Physical Education.

He is widely published across 25 years of scholarly engagement and has been chief investigator on numerous ARC Grants. In 2012 he led the establishment of the David Parkin Oration for Sport and Social Change, and continues to act as custodian for this annual Deakin event.

Chris is a member of the Chancellor's Advisory Committee, the Honorary Degrees Committee and the Legislation Committee.

Since 1 January 2018 he has also been a member of the Board at St Joseph's College Geelong.
