Partnership brings new talent pool to local business

The organisations have come together to make it easier for local businesses to meet their real-time resourcing needs by providing highly responsive support to fill short-term contracts or trial new graduates.

Deakin Pro-Vice Chancellor Graduate Employment Professor Dineli Mather said Deakin was delighted to partner with another Geelong-grown organisation to play a role in the changing economy by giving employers access to graduates without having to make the commitment of a full-time role.

“Empowering Deakin students to build a successful career in the 21st century is one of our key commitments. One way we do this is through partnerships such as this one with People@Work that connect students directly with prospective employers and employment opportunities,” Professor Mather said.

Gavin Walker, Manager of the DeakinTALENT graduate recruitment service, said he was pleased to add to the extensive suite of services Deakin offers employers.

“Our service is designed to help alleviate time pressures or constraints businesses have with graduate recruitment and, at the same time, support local graduates to enter the workforce,” Mr Walker said.

“Through the partnership, that was formalised at a signing event today (Wednesday 29 November), People@Work will manage all relevant payroll, super, Occupational Health and Safety and work visa requirements while the DeakinTALENT Graduate Recruitment Services will do all the sourcing and shortlisting and present the most suitable graduates.”

People@Work’s Recruitment Manager Louise Rau said knowledge transfer had the power to transform businesses, empower people and is the innovative leverage clients are seeking.
