Deakin alumni, you could win a AUD$6000 holiday to London, Singapore, Melbourne, Auckland or Queenstown! Imagine flying back to Melbourne to visit, or taking the family to Singapore or New Zealand. There are lots of possibilities for the winner to consider.

Alumni have been given many chances to win this year as part of Deakin Alumni’s 40th anniversary celebrations and this is the biggest competition of the year.

There will be one Deakin alumni winner, and if you win, you can choose to go solo on the holiday or take friends or family.

To enter, log in to the Deakin University Alumni Community Portal during the competition period and make at least one update on the ‘Update your details’ page whilst logged in to any of these fields: Personal Information, Addresses, Phones and Email, Business Details, Careers and Mentoring program, Alumni Volunteering or Areas of Interest sections.

Then cross your fingers and hope your name is drawn after the competition closes on 5 December.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

The promoter of this competition is Deakin University ABN 56 721 584 203 of 1 Gheringhap Street, Geelong VIC 3220.

1. Information on how to enter forms part of these Terms and Conditions. By entering, entrants agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions and entries must comply with these Terms and Conditions to be valid.

2. This competition is governed by the laws in force in the State of Victoria.

The Competition

3. The competition is:

  • Open to Deakin University alumni and is free to enter;
  • Deakin alumni need to log in to the Deakin University Alumni Community Portal during the competition period and make at least one update on the ‘Update your details’ page whilst logged in to update any field of the Personal Information, Addresses, Phones and Email, Business Details, Careers and Mentoring program, Alumni Volunteering or Areas of Interest sections.

4. To be eligible to enter, entrants also must have given Deakin University permission to contact them (ie they must not have not selected ‘no further email contact’ or ‘no further contact’ from Deakin University in their Deakin privacy settings).

5. Staff employed by Deakin University and their immediate families are not eligible to enter the competition.

Competition Period

6. The competition commences at 9am AEST on 31 October 2018 and closes at 9am AEST on 5 December 2018.

THE PRIZE

7. One alumni winner will be drawn from the eligible entries.

8. There is one prize to be awarded

  • 8a. First prize = AUD$6000 travel and accommodation credit to be used towards a trip from any location to one of these destinations only: London, Singapore, Melbourne, Auckland or Queenstown. Bookings will be managed through the Deakin Alumni Relations Office.
  • 8b. The winner may choose to attend solo on the holiday or take friends or family, and they may contribute their own additional funds towards travel and accommodation to extend the holiday if they wish to.
  • 8c. Spending money, meals and all other ancillary costs incurred as a result of taking the prize (including, without limitation, transport, airline and/or airport taxes and transfers, where applicable) are not included in the prize and remain the responsibility of the winners.
  • 8d. The prize cannot be substituted for cash.

9. The total prize pool is valued at AU$6000.

HOW TO ENTER

10. Entrants who log in to the Deakin University Alumni Community Portal during the competition period and update at least one field in the ‘Update your details’ page whilst logged in and are eligible, will automatically receive one entry in the competition.  Entrants will only be registered for this competition once regardless of how many times they log in.

11. The winner acknowledges and agrees that by entering this competition:

  • The winner accepts and acknowledges full responsibility for their decision to participate in this prize.
  • Deakin and its officers, agents and employees, are and shall be released from all liabilities, loss and damage of any kind arising at any time out of or in connection with the acceptance of, and participation in, the prize. Without limiting the foregoing, the released parties will not be liable for any injury, sickness or death, property loss or damage or other direct or indirect loss or damage of any kind, howsoever sustained or incurred, in connection with or arising out of the acceptance of a participant in the prize or any other aspect of the prize.

12. The winner’s name will be drawn on 7 December 2018 at 10am AEST at the Deakin Alumni Office, Deakin University, Waurn Ponds Campus.

13. The winner will be notified via email. The name of the winner will be published online at http://www.deakin.edu.au/alumni within 15 days of them being chosen.

14. Where possible, the prize will be given to the winner in person at the Deakin University Burwood Campus, Deakin University Waurn Ponds Campus or Deakin Downtown in Melbourne; if it is not possible to award the prize in person due to location, an e-voucher will be issued.

15. If the winner does not respond to claim the prize within 14 days of being notified by email under paragraph 13, a redraw will be conducted within 21 days of the competition end date and the substituted winner will be notified as set out in paragraph 13.

16. Prizes are not transferable and cannot be substituted for cash. Deakin University’s decision is final and binding - no correspondence will be entered into. Deakin accepts no responsibility for late, lost or misdirected entries or other communications. Entries will be deemed void if forged, manipulated or tampered with in any way.

17. Use of the travel and accommodation credit is subject to the Terms and Conditions of Corporate Travel Management and flight and accommodation service providers.

18. The Deakin Alumni Office reserves the right to change the travel and accommodation credit voucher supplier from Corporate Travel Management to an equivalent supplier if deemed necessary.

Consent to Promotion

19. Entrants consent to Deakin using their name, image or voice for promotional purposes on the Deakin alumni webpages, dKin alumni enewsletter, dKin magazine, Deakin alumni Facebook page and Deakin alumni LinkedIn page. Winners agree to make themselves available for a photograph and interview when requested by Deakin and to provide photographs taken on the holiday that Deakin can use in alumni communications.

COLLECTION STATEMENT

20. Deakin University is collecting your personal information via email for the primary purposes of entering you into the Deakin Alumni Making a Difference Competition as well as updating your personal information in the Deakin Alumni Community portal.

21. Deakin manages personal information, including requests by individuals for access to their personal information, in accordance with the Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 (Vic).  Deakin’s Privacy statement can be accessed at http://www.deakin.edu.au/footer/privacy.  The Deakin Privacy Policy is available from the Policy Library.
