The Deakin Engineering Alumni Committee has started planning member activities for 2017, building on last year’s successful events in Melbourne and Geelong.

The committee aims to provide Deakin engineering alumni with opportunities to stay in touch with friends, create and build new professional networks, and take part in social and career development events.

Deakin Alumni Engineering Event

Highlights in 2016 included a Melbourne networking event with guest speaker Dr Matthew Dingle, a Deakin engineering graduate and one of the founders of innovative carbon fibre wheel manufacturer, Carbon Revolution.

Later in the year, alumni members had the chance to see work by our next generation of engineers at the School of Engineering’s final-year student expo at Deakin’s Geelong Waurn Ponds Campus.

The expo was held at the Centre for Advanced Design in Engineering Training (CADET), home to the School of Engineering. The Engineering Alumni Committee has close links to the school and events at CADET are an opportunity for alumni to hear about innovative projects happening in the school and to see the new technology CADET houses.

Current plans for 2017 include an alumni event at Deakin Downtown, the University’s new Melbourne CBD venue, focusing on opportunities for Deakin Engineering alumni and industry representatives to network, as well as continued involvement with the final-year student project expo in Geelong.

Once finalised, details of events will be published on the Deakin Engineering Alumni Facebook group page. Deakin alumni members will also receive an email invitation, so please ensure your contact details are up to date by emailing Deakin Alumni

If you’re a Deakin engineering graduate and would like a notification but aren’t an alumni member yet, you can find details on how to join on the Deakin Alumni website. Don’t miss out!
