Deakin Professional Practice Credential Competition

Deakin University is giving two alumni winners the opportunity to complete an online credential each valued at AU$495.  

Professional Practice credentials are a game-changer for your professional development because they recognise the skills and experience you already have. The credentialing process is entirely online and some even lead to a Deakin postgraduate degree credit.

Our credentials have been developed in consultation with industry experts and are aligned to international qualifications and skills frameworks meaning they are industry-relevant, globally recognised and tailored to put you ahead of the pack.

To enter, Deakin alumni can submit a 20 word entry to deakinalumni@deakin.edu.au answering the question:

Which soft skill do you find the most important in your role?

Please include your full name, course studied at Deakin, graduation year, current job title and company name in the email sent from your preferred email address.

Alumni entrants must also have had at least five years’ of professional work experience.

The competition is open until 9am AEST on 26 October and alumni can only enter once.

Terms and Conditions

The promoter of this competition is Deakin University ABN 56 721 584 203 of 1 Gheringhap Street, Geelong VIC 3220.

1. Information on how to enter forms part of these Terms and Conditions. By entering, entrants agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions and entries must comply with these Terms and Conditions to be valid.

2. This competition is governed by the laws in force in the State of Victoria.

The Competition

3. The competition is:

a. Open to Deakin University alumni and is free to enter;

b. Requires the Deakin University alumnus to submit a 20 word entry to deakinalumni@deakin.edu.au answering the question:

Which soft skill do you find the most important in your role?

c. The email must include your full name, course studied at Deakin, graduation year, current job title and company name, and must be sent from your preferred email address because entrants details provided will be used to update the Deakin Alumni Community Portal database if the email address from which the submission is sent does not match what is currently on file;

4. Entrants must have had at least five years’ of professional work experience.

5. Entrants also must have given Deakin University permission to contact them (ie they must not have not selected ‘no further email contact’ or ‘no further contact’ from Deakin University in their Deakin privacy settings).

6. Staff employed by Deakin University are not eligible to enter the competition.

7. Each alumni member can only have one entry in the competition.

Competition Period

8. The competition commences at 9am AEST on 26 September 2018 and closes at 9am AEST on 26 October 2018.

The Prize

Two alumni winners will be drawn at random from the eligible entries from alumni who answer the question: Which soft skill do you find the most important in your role?

9. There are two prizes to award

(1) First prize = One Deakin Professional Practice credential enrolment valued at AUD$495

(2) Second prize = One Deakin Professional Practice credential enrolment valued at AUD$495

10. The two winners may choose one credential to study each from those listed on this webpage: https://credentials.deakin.edu.au/credentials/

11. The total prize pool is valued at AU$990.

How to Enter

12. Deakin alumni entrants must send an email with their 20 word entry answering:
Which soft skill do you find the most important in your role? Emails should be sent during the competition period to deakinalumni@deakin.edu.au from their preferred email address including the alumni members’ full name, current job title and company name, course studied at Deakin and graduation year.

13. The winners will be drawn at the Deakin University Alumni Waurn Ponds Office at 11am AEST 26 October 2018.

14. The winner will be notified via email. The name of the winner will be published online at http://www.deakin.edu.au/alumni within 15 days of them being chosen.

15. If the winner does not respond to claim the prize within 14 days of being notified by email, the winner will be redrawn within 21 days of the competition end date and the substituted winner will be notified as set out in paragraph 14.

16. Prizes are not transferable and cannot be substituted for cash. Deakin University’s decision is final and binding - no correspondence will be entered into. Deakin accepts no responsibility for late, lost or misdirected entries or other communications. Entries will be deemed void if forged, manipulated or tampered with in any way.

Consent to Promotion

17. Entrants consent to Deakin using their name, image or voice for promotional purposes on the Deakin alumni and/or DeakinCo webpages, dKin alumni enewsletter, Deakin alumni Facebook page and Deakin alumni LinkedIn page. Winners agree to make themselves available for a photograph and interview in the event and if requested by Deakin.

28. Entrants consent to their entries being republished for promotional purposes including on the Deakin alumni or DeakinCo webpages, dKin magazine, dKin Times alumni enewsletter, Deakin alumni Facebook page, Deakin alumni LinkedIn page and at Deakin alumni events.

Collection Statement

29. Deakin University is collecting your personal information via email for the primary purposes of entering you into the Deakin Professional Practice Credentials competition as well as for updating your personal information in the Deakin Alumni Community portal.

20. You are not required to provide the information requested, however if the information is not provided, Deakin may not be able to register you for the draw.

Deakin manages personal information, including requests by individuals for access to their personal information, in accordance with the Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 (Vic).  Deakin’s Privacy Policy is available from the Policy Library.
