DLS demonstrates expertise in health law

Tensions and Traumas in Health Law, edited by the University of Melbourne’s Professor Ian Freckleton QC and Adjunct Associate Professor Kerry Petersen, was launched at the Melbourne Law School on 9 May by Honourable Justice Kevin Bell AM.

It builds on the success of Controversies in Health Law (1999) and Disputes and Dilemmas in Health Law (2006) by the same editors but is a substantially larger and more comprehensive publication that provides in-depth analysis of topics such as new technologies, legislative changes, new regulatory processes, biobanking and embryo research.

The DLS contributors include:

• Associate Professor Sonia Allan: Public Health Law (chapter 9);  Assisted Reproduction: Emerging Technologies, Ethics, Regulation and Practice (chapter 16)
• Dr Neera Bhatia: End of Life Decision-making for (Extremely) Premature or Critically Impaired Infants (chapter 13)
• Associate Professor Marilyn McMahon (with Ian Freckelton, chapter 24): Research Fraud by Health Practitioners and the Criminal Law
• Professor Danuta Mendelson and Dr Gabrielle Wolf (chapter 14): Health Privacy and Confidentiality
