Deakin University ecologist Dr Euan Ritchie was honoured at James Cook University’s (JCU) Outstanding Alumni Awards in Townsville in August.

Dr Ritchie was the College winner for JCU’s College of Science and Engineering.

‘It’s a tremendous honour to receive this prestigious award from JCU, and it certainly helps to have such positive motivations and recognition when tackling the enormous environmental challenges we face,’ Dr Ritchie says.

‘I feel fortunate to have an ongoing association with James Cook University, and now Deakin University, two institutions with such strong reputations for world-class ecological research and teaching.

‘I’d also like to thank all the amazing staff and students I’ve worked with in my career so far, success always involves great teams, and again I’ve been very lucky in that respect.’

It’s the second accolade Dr Ritchie has received this year – in June he was declared an Australian Science Superhero, an initiative of Australia’s Chief Scientist, Dr Alan Finkel.
