Eight international education agents from six different countries are visiting Deakin University’s Warrnambool campus this week, potentially opening the door for an influx of international students to the region.

The visit starts today and is a targeted activity designed to assist the Warrnambool campus to grow its international student numbers.

Education agents from The Philippines, Pakistan, Vietnam, China, India and Sri Lanka are arriving at the campus today and will return to Melbourne on Friday. They will stay at the campus residences and their tour also includes visits to the Great Ocean Road and local tourist attractions.

There will also be an official dinner tonight with Deakin University and Warrnambool City Council officials welcoming the agents to the city.

Deakin University’s Warrnambool campus director, Alistair McCosh, said there was great potential for the campus to grow its international student numbers.

“We have worked closely with our Deakin International office to identify select agents from six key countries to visit our Warrnambool campus,” Mr McCosh said.

“We are confident that by bringing them here they get to experience firsthand why Warrnambool as a campus and city is a first-class destination for international students,” he said.

There are currently about 30 international students at Deakin Warrnambool.
