Deakin alumni, spend time with your family and friends with these great prizes that kids will love too!

Deakin alumni have the chance to win:

(a) First prize is four VIP Capitol Class tickets to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory theatre performance at the Capitol Theatre Sydney on 19 January 2019 2.00pm plus a $500 Flight Centre voucher towards flights or accommodation.

(b) Five Deakin alumni will be drawn as runners up and they will have their choice of the following tickets:

  • b1. Family pass (Two adults and two children's passes) to the Zoo nearest to you in Australia valued at AU$112.
  • b2. Family pass (Two adults & two children's passes) to the Royal Melbourne Show 2018 valued at AU$80.
  • b3. Family pass (Two adults & four children's standard passes) to the movie cinema near you in Australia valued at AU$80.
  • b4. Family pass (Two adults & two children's passes) to SeaLife Melbourne or SeaLife Sydney valued at AU$150.
  • b5. An alternate prize will be offered for runners up who are not living in Australia.

To enter, Deakin alumni need to open Edition Seven of the dKin Times alumni enewsletter by 24 August 2018 and they must have a valid and contactable email address in the Alumni Community Portal database and have not selected no further email contact or no further contact from Deakin University – to make any changes to preferences and contact details including email address, please email deakinalumni@deakin.edu.au to request the change.

Any alumni who didn't receive their copy of the enewsletter can email deakinalumni@deakin.edu.au to be sent a copy.

1. Information on how to enter this Competition forms part of these Terms and Conditions. By entering, entrants agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions and entries must comply with these Terms and Conditions to be valid.

2. This Competition is governed by the laws in force in the State of Victoria.

The Competition

3. This Competition is free to enter and is open to Deakin Alumni who open Edition Seven of the dKin Times alumni enewsletter during the competition period in the manner set out in these Terms and Conditions. The enewsletter was sent to alumni with an active email address in the Deakin alumni database on Thursday 26 July 2018 by Deakin Alumni Community (deakinalumni@engage.mail.deakin.edu.au). To be eligible to enter, the Deakin Alumni member must have a valid and contactable email address in the Alumni Community Portal database and have not selected no further email contact or no further contact from Deakin University – to make any changes to preferences and contact details including email address, please email deakinalumni@deakin.edu.au to request the change. Deakin alumni cannot forward their copy of the enewsletter to anyone else to enter the competition.

4. Entrants may only register for this Competition once.

5. Employees of the Deakin Advancement portfolio are not eligible to enter this Competition.

Competition Period

6. This Competition commences at 9.00 am AEST on 26 July 2018 and closes at 9.00 am AEST on 24 August 2018.

The prize

7. There are 6 prizes in total, to be drawn in the following order:

(a) First prize = Four VIP Capitol Class tickets to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory theatre performance at the Capitol Theatre Sydney on 19 January 2019 2.00pm and a $500 Flight Centre voucher towards flights and/or accommodation. Prize valued at AU$1360.

(b) Second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth prizes =

5. Deakin alumni will be selected as runners up and they will have a choice of the following tickets and each runner up can only select one of these options:

  • b1. Family pass (Two adults and two children's passes) to the Zoo nearest to you in Australia  valued at AU$112.
  • b2. Family pass (Two adults & two children's passes) to the Royal Melbourne Show 2018 valued at AU$80.
  • b3. Family pass (Two adults & four children's standard passes) to the movie cinema near you in Australia valued at AU$80.
  • b4. Family pass (Two adults & two children's passes) to SeaLife Melbourne or SeaLife Sydney valued at AU$150.
  • b5. An alternate prize will be arranged for runners up who are not living in Australia.

The total prize pool is valued up to AU$2110.
The 6 winners will be drawn randomly those alumni who are eligible and prizes will be awarded in the order they are drawn.

How to enter

8. Deakin Alumni need to open Edition Seven of the dKin Times alumni enewsletter during the competition period and must have a valid and contactable email address in the Alumni Community portal database and have not selected no further email contact or no further contact from Deakin University – to make any changes to preferences and contact details including email address, please email deakinalumni@deakin.edu.au to request the change. Entrants under 18 years of age must obtain the prior permission of their parent or legal guardian in order to be able to enter and Deakin University reserves the right to require at its discretion any such entrant’s parent or legal guardian to sign a release in which the parent or legal guardian accepts responsibility for the acts and forbearances of the winner.

9. Entrants who open their copy of dKin Times Edition Seven during the competition period will automatically receive one entry in this Competition. Anyone will receives a copy of dKin Times forwarded to them by another Deakin alumni member, will not be eligible.

10.
a) The winner acknowledges and agrees that the prizes are not Deakin managed event and that by accepting the 2018 Time Out with Family and Friends Competition prizes, the winner, and their companion(s), agree to be bound by the Conditions of Sale and Entry in relation to the use of the tickets (details of which may be accessed from the websites).

b) The winner acknowledges and agrees that by entering this competition:

  • The winner accepts and acknowledge full responsibility for their decision to participate in the prize.
  • Deakin and its officers, agents and employees, are and shall be released from all liabilities, loss and damage of any kind arising at any time out of or in connection with the acceptance of, and participation in, the prize. Without limiting the foregoing, the released parties not be liable for any injury, sickness or death, property loss or damage or other direct or indirect loss or damage of any kind, howsoever sustained or incurred, in connection with or arising out of the prize or any other aspect of the prize.

c) If the prize is unavailable, for whatever reason, Deakin reserves the right to substitute the prize for a prize of equal or greater value, subject to State and Territory legislation.

Selection and notification of winners

11. The prize draw will be conducted on 24 August 2018 at 1.00pm AEST at Deakin University, Alumni Relations Office, Waurn Ponds Estate, Waurn Ponds Campus, Geelong, Vic, 3216.

12. Winners will be notified by email or phone. The names of the winners will also be published online at www.deakin.edu.au/alumni within 14 days of the date of the draw. Tickets will be given directly to the winners at a Deakin Campus where possible, otherwise registered post will be used.

13. If the winner of a prize does not claim the prize within 14 days of the date of the draw, a re-draw will be conducted within 21 days of the original draw date.

14. Prizes are not transferrable and are not redeemable for cash. Deakin's decision is final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into. Deakin accepts no responsibility for late, lost or misdirected entries or other communications. Entries will be deemed void if forged, manipulated or tampered with in any way.

15. First prize must be taken as it is outlined and no alternate prize will be offered. If a runner up prize winner resides outside of Australia, a AU$150 Visa Gift Card will be offered to the runner up Deakin alumni winner instead of the Australian tickets.

Consent to promotion

16. Entrants consent to Deakin using their name, image or voice for promotional purposes. Entrants agree to make themselves available for photograph and interview in the event theirs is the winning entry and if requested by Deakin.

Collection Statement

17. Personal information provided to Deakin by entrants will be used to conduct the draw, notify the winner and publish the winner's name. It will also be used to establish or update information in Deakin University's Alumni Community Portal and Advancement Database. The University's information privacy policy may be viewed at theguide.deakin.edu.au/ or by contacting privacy@deakin.edu.au.

Deakin complies with the Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 (Vic) in its treatment of personal information. Entrants have a right to access their personal information held by Deakin. Requests for access to personal information are managed under the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (Vic).
