Biography

Ben Eltham is a Research Fellow at Deakin University's Faculty of Arts and Education. His research interests include cultural policy, cultural economics, public policy, cultural studies, memory studies and the sociology of culture.

In addition to his academic research, particularly in the Australian cultural industries, Ben is also a widely-published writer and journalist. He is New Matilda's National Affairs Correspondent and Arts Hub's Industry Columnist. He also writes regularly about Australian politics, culture and the arts for a range of publications and media outlets including Guardian Australia, the ABC, Crikey, Meanjin Quarterly, Kill Your Darlings, the Sydney Review of Books and others. Ben is a regular commentator on radio for 3RRR.

Ben completed a postgraduate honours degree in neuroscience at the University of Queensland. He completed his PhD in cultural policy at the University of Western Sydney's Institute for Culture and Society. He is a Fellow of Sydney-based public policy institute, the Centre for Policy Development.
