Biography

Colin Warren is a senior lecturer supporting e-learning in the School of Medicine at Deakin University. Colin has worked in higher education for over 20 years in a number of roles including teaching, research, and administration. With the advent of the new social media applications and Web 2.0 technologies, Colin has been keen to determine how these tools can provide valuable and authentic learning in education for both students and teachers. Past research has examined the usefulness of a collaborative online environment to support a long-term professional development activity.

Colin’s current research interests include developing effective ways of integrating ePortfolios and mobile devices into learning and teaching to enhance student understanding of their development as learners and as beginning professionals. Of particular interest is how ePortfolio might be integrated in and across a whole degree program to support all aspects of student learning including; assessment, reflection, skills and capability development, and a capacity to present evidence of learning and work readiness in appropriate ways.
