Biography

Jeanne Nel de Koker graduated from the Faculty of Law of University of the Orange Free State (Bloemfontein) with a B.Iuris, an LLB and an LLM in Constitutional Law. Jeanne was admitted as an Advocate of the High Court of South Africa in Bloemfontein and practiced as a member of the Orange Free State Bar.

Jeanne taught Corporate Law and Business Law as well as Family Law, Deceased Estates and African Customary Law at Vista University, the University of the Orange Free State, the Rand Afrikaans University and the University of Johannesburg. She was a senior lecturer in the Department of Business Law and Taxation at Monash University, Australia, deployed to their new South African campus to develop and present their Commercial Law courses. Jeanne currently teaches Corporations Law and Marketing Law at an undergraduate level and Corporate Governance at a postgraduate level at Deakin University, Australia.
 
She delivered more than twenty-five academic papers at various national and international conferences and published thirteen articles in national and international peer reviewed journals. Jeanne compiled and edited a number of reports for the South African Commission on Gender Equality; participated in and contributed to the drafting of the report which was presented as the official South African report at the Trends and Typologies Meeting of the Financial Action Task Force during 2002; and undertook the empirical research analysis for a multi-country study for the Alliance for Financial Inclusion, Bangkok (2012). Jeanne contributed to several parts of the book Principles of Contemporary Corporate Governance (3rd ed, Cambridge University Press, 2015) and authored chapters in Anti Money Laundering Guide (Thomson Reuters, 2015) and The Changing Family (Hart Publishing, Oxford, 1998).
