Between 1980 and 1984, Kui Hua Wang studied her LL.B. at Jilin University, China.  After her graduation, she joined the Central University of Finance & Economics in Beijing, mainly teaching Private International Law there.  During her time with the Central University of Finance & Economics (between 1984-1988), she also did a graduate diploma with the Faculty of Law, Renmin University of China.  In 1988, Kui Hua came to Monash University to study and obtained a Master of Laws in 1992.  While she was studying at Monash (1988-1991), she was also working part-time (two days a week) with a law firm Cornwall Stodart in down town Melbourne.  In 1991, while she was waiting for her thesis to be approved, she began to work as a tutor with Monash University, Gippsland Campus.  In 1992, she joined Deakin University as a lecturer. 

Kui Hua Wang developed the unit Chinese Commercial Law to the Arts/Commerce double-degree students.  In 1996, she set up an intensive Chinese commercial law study tour program to the China University of Political Science & Law (CUPL) in Beijing.  The Study Tour had been running annually since 1996 with few gap years.  From the Study Tour program, Deakin Law School and the CUPL developed multiple collorations on students and staff members between 1996 and 2012, in particular with CUPL students coming to Deakin and Deakin students going out to CUPL (Commonwealth Government's Mobility Programs).  In 2012, the Chinese Commercial Law Study Tour had been relocated to the Shanghai with the Shanghai University of Finance & Economics.  In June/July 2015, Kui Hua just completed another successful Study Tour, taking students to both Shanghai and Beijing.

In 1990s and 2000s, Kui Hua Wang was actively promoting the friendship and relationship between Australia and China.  She was on the sub-committee of the Australian China Business Council, Victorian Branch.

Research interests

Topics related to Chinese Commercial Law, in particular, foreign investment laws, Chinese labour law and Chinese intellectual property law.

Teaching interests

Kui Hua Wang teaches Chinese Commercial Law at Deakin University.  She teaches this subject to both the undergraduate and postgraduate students.  The subject is offered to on-campus students and off campus students.  In addition, she also takes the students on an intensive Chinese Commercial Law study tour to Shanghai and Beijing.

Knowledge areas

Kui Hua Wang has been teaching Chinese Commercial Law over past 20 years at Deakin University.  She also published a book entitled Chinese Commercial Law by Oxford University Press.  She developed an intensive Chinese commercial law study tour to Beijing and Shanghai.  The study tour has been offered as a unit over June/July break to students since 1996.  In late 1990s and early 2000s, Kui Hua Wang was actively involving in promoting the trade and business relationship between Australia and China.  She was on the committee of Victorian Branch of the Australia-China Business Council in those days.
