Biography

Longxiang Gao received his PhD in Computer Science from Deakin University, Australia. He is currently a Lecturer at School of Information Technology, Deakin University to teach database, web development and networking units for both undergraduate and postgraduate students. Before joined Deakin University, he was a post-doctoral research fellow at IBM Research & Development Australia. In IBM R&D, he had been the core team member to develop a crisis event analysis, computing and reporting system to Australia Red Cross, and this project has been selected as the feature project of IBM. His research interests include data processing, mobile social networks, Fog computing and network security.


Dr. Gao has over 40 publications, including patent, monograph, book chapter, journal and conference papers. Some of his publications have been published in the top venue, such as IEEE TMC, IEEE IoT, IEEE TDSC and IEEE TVT. He received 2012 Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Students Abroad (Ranked No.1 in Victoria and Tasmania consular districts). Dr. Gao is a Senior Member of IEEE and active in IEEE Communication Society. He has served as the TPC co-chair, publicity co-chair, organization chair and TPC member for many international conferences. Meanwhile, he served as president of Chinese Association of Professionals and Scholars, Australia (CAPS Australia), which is the premier organization promoting and facilitating education, industry-relevant research and business opportunities between Australia and China with more than 1200 members of Chinese professionals, PhDs and young scholars living and working in Australia.
