Biography

Dr. Md Shihanur Rahman has received his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of New South Wales, Australia, in 2014 and Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET), Bangladesh, in 2009. Dr. Rahman has been working in the area of electrical power engineering since last 8 years. He is currently working as postdoctoral research fellow (Electrical and Renewable Energy) in the School of Engineering under the Faculty of Science Engineering and Built Environment at Deakin University. Before joining at Deakin University, he was a research publication fellow in the School of Engineering and Information Technology at the University of New South Wales, Australia. Dr. Rahman served as a faculty member in different universities in Bangladesh.

Dr. Rahman has published his research outcome in several high impact reputed journals, book chapters, and conference proceedings. Dr. Rahman is involved in collaborative research activities with different universities in Australia and overseas. He is also directly engaged with some local industries and communities in Australia.

Dr. Rahman is an active member of local and international professional communities such as Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (IEEE), IEEE Power and Energy Society (PES), IEEE Smart Grid Community (SGC), IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (IES), and Institute of Engineers Bangladesh (IEB). He is also a graduate member of Sustainable Energy Society of Engineers Australia (EA) and Australian Institute of Energy (AIE). Apart from this, he is a regular reviewer of several prestigious IEEE transactions,  IET and Elsevier journals and IEEE Conferences.

His current research interests are: smart grid control and communication, future power grid protection systems, cyber-physical energy systems, smart grid cyber security, distributed multi-agent based modeling for power grid, power management in microgrids, and renewable energy integration.
