Syd Balachandran is the clinical solicitor supervising law students enrolled in the clinical legal education program at Deakin University.
Prior to joining Deakin University, Syd was a lawyer with International Social Service Australia, a non-for-profit community legal centre assisting left-behind parents seeking the return of the children under the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction of 25 October 1980.
Syd previously worked at the Family Law Assistance Program at the Monash Oakleigh Legal Service as the Legal Administrator, Projects Co-ordinator and Junior Solicitor. His role focussed on mentoring law students and to provide an effective legal service that was accessible to the local community in the area of Family Law.
Syd was admitted into the Supreme Court of Victoria in 2012. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts from Monash University in 2007 and his Bachelors of Laws in 2011. He completed his Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice from the Australian National University in 2012.Read more on Syd's profile
