Tony's research interests include contemporary German history, the Cold War, the politics of war memory and commemoration, and sports history.

Tony's teaching interests include modern German history, the Holocaust, the Cold War, sports history, and historiography.

Projects

Tony and his Deakin colleague Professor David Lowe are the General Editors for Routledge's new interdisciplinary book series entitled Remembering the Modern World. To commence the series, Tony and David recently co-authored Remembering the Cold War: Global Contest and National Stories (Routledge, 2013).

Tony's current research focuses on the early history of the VFL/AFL.
