Aims of the Research Institute

The Research Institute represents the shared commitment among the partners to the value of research in the institutions and the region. Its major aim is to facilitate, through funding, projects and people, collaborative research projects that fulfil the following objectives:

- Provide a focus for research activities and development between Deakin University and the partner universities in Padang (UNP, UNAND).

- Foster applied research projects in Padang and other regions of Indonesia, through partnerships with industry, government and the professions.

- Secure research funds, as appropriate, for the effective conduct of research in the field, data analysis, travel between institutions, dissemination of findings, and other research project support.

- Provide an intellectual environment for the development of research capacity in young academics, HDR students and post-doctoral researchers.

- Develop and sustain collaboration between researchers at Deakin and in Padang which values visiting researchers at each university, the preparation of joint papers and research work on joint projects.

- Present, from time to time, conferences and symposiums on topics of mutual interests for researchers in the region.

- Publish papers and articles on the findings of the research in international journals.


Deakin University acknowledges the traditional land owners of present campus sites.
