Donations and sponsorship

During its development, Deakin University has received generous support from friends and alumni. This has helped the University to augment funding provided by the Federal Government and maintain the quality of its educational programs and facilities.

Government funding now makes up less than 50 per cent of budgeted revenues. In the future, the University will be increasingly reliant on external support, including gifts, endowment income and research grants. Your gift can help fund facilities, programs, research and scholarships.

You can designate your gift for a particular school or program, or leave your gift unrestricted so that it can be used for University-wide facilities, scholarships, research or technology.

There are a number of ways in which you can give to Deakin, including:

Bequests - You can give to Deakin University through bequests, wills and trusts and leave a lasting legacy to assist students, research and the University now and in the future

The Institute of Koorie Education - Deakin welcomes funding to help expand opportunities in higher education for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students at the Institute of Koorie Education.

Research - Deakin is committed to undertaking research that makes a difference and welcomes funding to support it expanding research activities including funding for honours and PhD scholarships, centres of excellence and research Chairs.

Grants and donations - Your donation may be in the form of a monetary grant or a gift of a significant item, for example the giving of a historic book collection for the library, or an artwork for display or materials for use in education and research programs. You may also want to direct your gift to a particular faculty or division or to support one of the many research programs.

Career information interviewing and mentoring service (Ciims)

Deakin's Ciims program is an online resource designed to facilitate contact between Alumni members (mentors) and current students (mentees), to help students in their career development. As a mentor or career information interviewer, you can play a vital and influential role in helping to shape the future career of a Deakin student. Drawing on your own knowledge and experience, you can assist in helping a Deakin student make the transition to the workforce or determine their career direction.
