President's welcome
Welcome everyone,
It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to our Chapter and our web site. Firstly, congratulations on being invited to join our society. Only the top 15% of your faculty will receive an invite, so simply by being invited, you have already achieved the high standards we at Golden Key thrive on.
An important question is what do you want from your $93.50? If it's a certificate and a line on your resume- you've already got it. If it's the opportunity to attend academic workshops and information sessions, as well as participate in social and community events, you can have that too. This web site will be constantly updated with upcoming events, as is our Facebook group. These events are a whole lot of fun - you get to meet and socialise with a great bunch of people who you know are high achievers like yourself, in addition to developing academic skills and helping the community. The calendar of events for 2010 is one of our biggest. We are building a fantastic chapter committee who are eager and enthusiastic to kick of possibly our most challenging year so far.
If you would like to take on a bigger role in the Chapter, you can attend our committee meetings and perhaps take up a position of office. New committee members are always wanted! You don't need to be a good public speaker or excel in group planning situations to join the committee; you can develop these 'real world' skills as you go along. Being on the committee is highly regarded by employers, as it tells them that you are not only academically gifted but are also an experienced team player and can handle responsibility. Joining the committee also gives you the opportunity to attend regional and international Golden Key conferences, with guest speakers, cultural events, and opportunities for social and business networking.
