Australian Association of Social Marketing symposium – Tips, traps and tales of technology in social marketing

Hosted by Deakin Graduate School of Business, the 2013 AASM Symposium will bring together scholars, marketing practitioners, government and community sector representatives to connect professionally and socially, to share and learn from the latest research and experience in successful social marketing practice using new technologies.

Speakers include Professor Rebekah Russell Bennett (AASM and QUT), Kevin Moreland (BCM Partnership), Joan Young (Colmar Brunton), Rory Mulcahy (QUT), Dr Stefan Kauffman (EPA), Dr Angela Dobele (RMIT), Everard Hunder (ARCBS), Rebecca Attwood-Frew (Department of Justice) and Lelde McCoy (AASM and The Reputation Group).

The School of Health and Social Development takes great pleasure in inviting you to our 2013 Alumni event showcasing Deakin University’s exciting new Strategic Plan, LIVE the future: Agenda 2020. Teaching and Learning Co-ordinators will present examples of our innovation in teaching, learning and research; our contributions to strengthening our communities; and enhancement of the Deakin experience for students, staff and alumni.

Helen Larkin is a lecturer in Occupational Therapy and a School Teaching and Learning Coordinator.
Sophie Goldingay is a senior lecturer in Social Work and a Teaching and Learning Coordinator.
Patricia Ritchie graduated from the School with a Bachelor of Public Health and Health Promotion.

Exercise and Sport Science Industry Evening Geelong Waurn Ponds

An invitation to the Sport, Exercise and Nutrition Industry in the Barwon Region, current students and staff and those interested in a successful career in sport.

The School of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences at Deakin University is now offering the highly sought after Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science at the Geelong Waurn Ponds Campus.
The School is seeking to engage with the exercise and sport science industry organisations in the Geelong region. The evening is an opportunity for you to meet staff, experience the state of the art facilities and find out more about the program.

Renowned sporting personality, Honorary Professor David Parkin, will deliver a presentation providing "An Expert Insight into How to Build a Successful Career in Sport".
The seminar will be followed by networking time with drinks and canapes.

Geelong Waurn Ponds Campus Residents' Reunion (1970-1990)

The Deakin University Central Alumni Office in conjunction with Deakin Residences is organising a reunion at the Waurn Ponds Campus on Sunday 10 November.
The reunion is for Alumni who lived in the Waurn Ponds student accommodation between 1970 and 1990. Residents during this time may have studied at Deakin University or the antecedent institute the Gordon Institute of TAFE.

The celebration marks the 40th anniversary of the Collins and Laird accommodation units and is a lead up event to Deakin University's 40th anniversary celebrations.

This free event includes lunch for Alumni and their partners. Alcoholic beverages can be purchased at bar prices.

The Brookes Oration delivered by Paul Bassat, co-founder of SEEK and Square Peg Capital.
Established with the Deakin Business School, The Brookes Oration aims to create and encourage thoughtful debate about the contribution of corporate Australia in the global community.

This year’s oration will be delivered by Paul Bassat: co-founder of SEEK and Square Peg Capital, a director of Wesfarmers Ltd and a commissioner of the Australian Football League (AFL). Along with being designated as a Young Global Leader of the World Economic Forum in 2009, Paul is a board member for several non for profit organisations including the Peter MacCallum Cancer Foundation, and the P&S Bassat Foundations.

After co-founding SEEK in 1997, Paul served as CEO, then as Joint CEO, until 2011. In 13 years SEEK became one of Australia’s top 100 companies, boasting a market capitalisation of $2.5b, and is the world’s largest online employment businesses.

The Oration is open to the public and admission is FREE.

Corporate Social Responsibility and New Governance Public Lecture
Faculty of Business and Law

Presented by Professor Jeremy Moon, Business School, Nottingham University UK

Professor Moon explores new ways of governing corporate social responsibility (CSR) as part of a formal framework both locally and globally. The lecture will also review the capacity of businesses to be socially responsible, the enormous contribution that corporations can make to the greater public good and societal change as well as the inherent risks.

Jeremy Moon is the Professor and Founding Director of the International Centre for Corporate Social Responsibility, Nottingham University Business School and a coauthor/coeditor.
