Master of Business Administration 2009

I chose Deakin because…
I wanted to continuously learn. More importantly, Deakin gave me the chance to learn in a structured, organised and professional manner as well as giving me the flexibility to undertake short term interest subjects.

Deakin also provided me with professional learning experiences, flexibility in choosing the right course load and significantly the MBA there is a globally-recognised degree.

At uni I was motivated…
By a desire to overcome the distance barrier. Deakin seemed so far away from Hong Kong where I work and live but even with this great distance, the electronic media and communication channels provided by Deakin enabled me to make a strong connection. I know a great many people have worked very hard to make this possible and in the process have helped me to be more successful. They are my inspiration and I must not let them down!

I am currently…
An Executive Director of New Island Printing Holdings Ltd in Hong Kong, which is one of China’s leading printing, packaging and paper products manufacturers. I have been with the company 26 years.

Today, I am motivated by…
Learning more. Recently I attended a one week course at Tsinghua University in Beijing which was aimed at printing and publishing professionals and was centered on learning about China’s current political, economic and business issues their challenges and future outlook for the industry. It is opportunities like this one that really motivate me.

In my profession it is important to…
Plan well, act quickly and to lead.

Professionally, my proudest achievement is…
Seeing the management trainees I recruit every year becoming successful in their own right.

Success to me is…
Where I have contributed to the success of other people.

The single-most important issue in the world is…
Greed – it causes so many problems in the world.

The best thing I would recommend about Deakin is…
That it teaches you how to better leverage your strengths and skills to enable you to react quickly and capitalise on any given issue or situation that may arise in business administration.

My course helped my career …
By updating my skills to match current business ideas and practices and it also assisted me to better understand and act upon challenges that I may face in my profession.

In the future, I would like to see the Deakin Alumni Community…
Hold more regular gatherings in Hong Kong, to help gather momentum for the Alumni program here, including holding some networking dinners.
