"I chose science and engineering not so much because I was good at them but because they allow you to do just about everything. They enable you to merge logic and routine with creation and imagination. With a background in science and engineering you'll never be bored, unemployed or uninspired. My working life couldn't be better. It's my dream job."

Tim Ebeling graduated recently with a combined degree in Engineering (Mechatronics) and Computer Science (Software Development) from the Geelong campus at Waurn Ponds. He completed his honours thesis in 2003 on the design of an affordable USB stethoscope for home and educational use.

Since graduating, Tim has set up his own company with three other Deakin Alumni called 3G Engineering, based in Geelong. Tim believes that being a graduate in two complementary degrees has equipped him with the expertise to provide full process development to a customer, from identifying what is required through to designing the hardware and software installation.
