I chose Deakin in Geelong because…
I wanted to stay in the country and learn at a country-based campus to help me better experience the culture and the quieter life that Geelong has to offer. Studying abroad is more than just about academic pursuits - it is also about experiencing other cultures.

Deakin also had a strong support network for international students that assisted me prior to even coming to Australia. Deakin worked with IDP to provide some great guidelines and support for us newbies to Australia.

After leaving Deakin I…
Returned back home to Singapore to start my career. I worked firstly as a Solutions Specialist for Hewlett-Packard Far East Pte Ltd. After couples of years I decided to switch careers and work in the banking industry.

I am currently…
Working as an Assistant Vice President (AVP) with Citibank N.A Singapore. My duties are to manage securities and fund service projects and ensure my team is working to optimum capacity.

Today I’m motivated by…
Helping other people.  In my work and personal life, I always strive to help other people through their problems. A situation will just get worse if you do not bother to face a challenge head on with the help of others.

In my profession it is important….
To have clear and concise objectives in everything you do, from a development project right through to just running a meeting.

Success to me is…
Very subjective and often beyond my control. However I believe success for me is based on always seeking improvement in the things I do and to help lead my team to reach its ultimate destination. Professionally my success is always totally reliant on the outcomes of the team.

Today I am still involved with Deakin as….
An Alumni mentor. I hope that I will be able to mentor current students on how to adapt to life after university. I found having my own mentor as I worked my way up through the ranks was an invaluable experience and asset in my career progression.

In the future…
I want to successfully complete my masters degree and hopefully move up the corporate ladder. Another alternative I am looking at down the track is to move into academic life and become a lecturer at some stage too.

My advice to new Deakin graduates…
Love what you do, be proactive and always look for the positives in any situation.
