High flying graduate Peter Evans has over 25 years experience in the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector, spanning a range of roles and industry segments including corporate business governance, commercial and business management, project portfolio management, consulting, strategy formulation, product management, international standards, systems engineering and research.
Over his career, Peter has worked with various large companies around the world including Hewlett-Packard (since 1995), Northern Telecom, QPSX Communications, AUSTEL and Telecom Australia Research Laboratories.
Currently Manager of the Engagement Program Management Office (EPMO) for HP's services business in the South Pacific and Australia, Peter works to ensure that the business objectives for profitable growth and client satisfaction are achieved across the portfolio of services engagements and projects. This portfolio includes consulting projects, technology infrastructure and integration projects, applications and systems integration projects, outsourcing engagements and support solutions business.
Peter is personally accountable for various aspects of HP operations such as running the processes by which large opportunities in pursuit and negotiation that fit with business strategies and risk/return profile guidelines, are reviewed and approved by the country management team; ensuring the health of the country engagement and project portfolio through active monitoring of pursuit and delivery performance; and personal involvement in large engagements using risk identification, evaluation and containment strategies in evaluating opportunities in pursuit, negotiation and delivery
At the conclusion of his MBA studies at Deakin, Peter won the BHPSteel Prize that is awarded to the best 1999 MBA Graduate from the Deakin/APESMA program. Since graduating, Peter is still actively involved with the Deakin community and sits on the Academic Advisory Boards for Deakin's Business School and Information Systems School, and is the President of the Deakin MBA Alumni Chapter.
Outside work, Peter enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter and says he is very active in his church community where he was a founding member of Social Policy Connections Inc and the Knox Council Inter-Faith Network. He also 'enjoys a good wine', and follows various sporting teams including AFL team, the Adelaide Crows.
Peter is currently studying a Graduate Certificate of Management (Sport) through Deakin.
