Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science 2012
I am currently...
A member of Australian Canoe Slalom World Cup and World Championship Team.
I competed in the World Championships in Slovenia in 2010 and have also competed in the last 4 ICF World Cups. Making the 2016 Olympics team is one of my major goals now. My best finish to date in senior international competition has been 6th at the 2010 World Championships.
I am also about to begin the last two subjects of my Graduate Diploma at Deakin over the summer trimester and I am currently applying for my Honours in Psychology for 2013 if all goes to plan!
I chose to study at Deakin because...
The course content appeared to be the most interesting and relevant of the other universities. I chose to undertake my second course at Deakin because I’d had had such a great experience and had been supported so well throughout my first degree.
In the future...
I want to compete at the 2016 Olympics and also complete a Masters in Sport Psychology as I eventually aim to go on to work with elite athletes in supporting and enhancing their mental approach to competition and training.
Today, I am motivated by...
The prospect of working in a field which I have a great passion for. Being able to have the career I want is what motivates me to continue putting all the hours into studying to ensure I get the marks that will help me to get there eventually.
The best things I would recommend about Deakin are…
The flexibility in study options makes fitting study around all my other commitments so much easier. As an elite athlete, being able to study most of my units off campus has made fitting my sporting commitments in with my studies really easy.
The support of lecturers and unit chairs at Deakin has been great and has allowed me to study while on tour by emailing in assignments and doing exams from abroad.
