Overview

Elliot Costello is a co-founder of YGAP, an organisation that runs fundraising campaigns to improve the lives of people living in poverty in Australia, Africa and Asia. He received the Deakin Young Alumni of the Year Award for outstanding service and achievement in the community in recognition of his contributions to charitable causes.

Career path and highlights

After stints at PricewaterhouseCoopers and PPB Advisory, Elliot left the corporate sector behind to work full time as the CEO of YGAP. He also launched the Kinfolk Café, channelling its profits to YGAP's international projects and Australian-based charities. He was responsible for YGAP's incredible ‘5cent campaign’, which raised over one million five cent coins.

Elliot spoke at the UN Alliance of Civilisations Forum in Doha in 2011 and was one of 20 young Australian leaders who presented a Millennium Development Goals commitment plan to the Governor-General in 2011. Elliot was elected a Victorian Social Pioneer by the Foundation of Young Australians in 2010 and won an Anglicare Anti-Poverty Award in 2009.
