Faculty Access and Equity Reference Group

About us

Mission Statement

The Access and Equity Reference Group (AERG) was established in 2008 to address and operationalise the Faculty’s commitment to access and equity. It includes representatives from each of the four schools in the Faculty. The work of the AERG has been informed by current policy frameworks and funding initiatives at the Federal Government level.

The AERG works closely with the University’s Equity and Diversity Unit in order to synchronise the Faculty’s equity and access strategic objectives and initiatives with those of the University.

Strategic Plan

Key strategies for 2012-2015 are:

  1. To evaluate the effectiveness of the Faculty’s access and equity initiatives in responding to its strategic targets.
  2. Further awareness and promoting understanding of access and equity among students and staff.
  3. Building and consolidating partnerships with schools, communities and TAFES and with under-represented cohorts of students.
  4. To implement and monitor a range of initiatives to increase access, success and retention of students in specific equity groups.
  5. To mainstream access and equity initiatives in the teaching, research and infrastructure of the Faculty and to promote these initiatives to staff and students.
  6. To promote a culture of equity and continue to develop a supportive environment for all staff.
