The Centre for Teaching Asian Languages and Cultures and the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development Barwon South Western Region have confirmed their commitment to working in partnership by signing a Partnership Arrangement.
The Arrangement acknowledges the shared objective of the partners to support and enhance the education and professional development of teachers of Asian languages. The partnership aims to increase the delivery of high quality Asian language programs in schools which will attract students to undertake the study of an Asian language to Year 12 level. In order to achieve this, the partnership will focus on the development of language proficiency of teachers and enhancing the effectiveness of teaching practice.
The agreement was signed at an event at the Deakin University Waurn Ponds campus which celebrated the long association between Deakin University and the Barwon South Western Region. The agreement was signed on behalf of the Centre by Head of School of Education Diane Mayer and on behalf of Barwon South Western Region by Regional Director Grant Rau.
