Short courses in Cultural Heritage and Museum Studies

Deakin University is pleased to make available elements of the CHCAP program via two-day modules, on the Melbourne Campus, Burwood, Victoria. These modules are ideal for people seeking professional development or wanting to know more about specific areas of Cultural Heritage and Museum Studies. No assessment is required in association with these short courses.

Who are the courses for?

The two-day intensive courses are designed for:
  • Practitioners wanting specialist training for professional development.
  • People interested in a career in cultural heritage management or museums.
  • Anyone interested in the issues and practice of cultural heritage management including museum collection.
  • people considering doing a post-graduate course in cultural heritage or museum studies and wanting to know more about these areas.

Who teaches the courses?
The courses are taught by academics and practitioners in the Cultural Heritage and Museum Studies program, School of History, Heritage and Society, under the direction of Dr Colin Long.

Staff are associated with the CHCAP under the leadership of Professor William Logan, UNESCO Chair of Heritage and Urbanism. CHCAP is committed to promoting international best practice in cultural heritage education, research and consultancy. The Centre has close connections with UNESCO, including the World Heritage Centre, ICOMOS, ICCROM, Asian Academy of Heritage Management, ICOM and Museums Australia.

Dates
A brochure and dates for 2010 are being developed.

Times
Courses are run over two days between 9.30 am and 5 pm.

Melbourne Campus, Deakin University, 221 Burwood Highway, Burwood.
A map and location details will be sent on registration.
Courses will include reading materials and may include site visits and field exercises.

Availability of places
Please note that class sizes are limited and some courses book out quickly. The closing date for enrolment is 14 days prior to commencement of the course. Late enrolments will be accepted at the discretion of the Course Director.
