The Faculty of Arts and Education offers courses that train students to make a difference. Programs are innovative and responsive to industry demands, and have particular relevance for professionals working in the cultural and communication industries and international business, or students wishing to pursue a career in these areas.

Faculty programs are organised under areas that are relevant to the workplace:

Faculty undergraduate and postgraduate courses:

• provide high-quality teaching of the core disciplines and generic skills, including critical and analytical thinking, oral and written communication, information retrieval and research; and collaborative intellectual endeavour;
• link the theoretical and intellectual understandings provided by core disciplines with the professional and applied skills required by the changing workplace;
• offer many opportunities for students to gain workplace and international experience through professional experience and experiential learning, study abroad and student exchange .

The programs are innovative, not only in their flexibility but their mode of delivery. Most programs are offered both on and off campus. All teaching is enhanced by Deakin Studies Online (DSO) an interactive website for online delivery. Students at Deakin are required to take at least one fully online subject to prepare them for a future in which learning and the workplace will be increasingly dominated by electronic communication.
