Edson Sousa
In this paper Edson Sousa looks at the issue of utopia and creativity in art and literature and draws parallels between the creative act of an artist and the psychoanalytic act.
Professor Sousa practices psychoanalysis in Porto Alegre, Brazil, and is an analyst member of the Psychoanalytic Association of Porto Alegre. Edson is professor in the Department of Psychoanalysis and Psychopathology at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil, where he also teaches in both the PhD program in Social Psychology in the Institute of Psychology and in the PhD program in visual arts. He is also a professor in the postgraduate program in architecture at the Catholic Pontifical University. Edson studied for his PhD at the Department of Psychoanalysis and Psychopathology at the University of Paris (VIII) and has published several books on psychoanalysis in Portuguese.
