Professional Writing


Program overview

Deakin's professional writing courses looks at various forms of professional writing and editing. Created specifically for graduates of other disciplines, the writing program has an emphasis on helping students develop the skills required to prepare work for publication.

The course encompasses studies in:

  • Creative non-fiction
  • Fiction
  • Poetry
  • Editing
  • Scriptwriting

Students will be given practical experience in the process of writing and revision, and will develop an understanding of the requirements of writing and editing for different readerships.

To help integrate study with work and personal commitments, Deakin has designed its professional writing postgraduate courses with flexibility and support. On and off-campus units are available, and full or part-time study modes are available (depending on units chosen).
