DANCE

Nervous about our audition process?

If you have recently applied for a place in our Bachelor of Creative Arts (Dance) then you will need to do an audition.

Applicants must attend one day of audition/workshop activities and will not be eligible for selection if they have not attended the audition.

Don't let this process scare you! There is nothing to prepare.

The audition is conducted to give us an indication of you, your potential, your interests, and your knowledge and skills. It is also an opportunity for you to meet us and get a sense of how we work. Our selection panel will be looking for students who have the motivation for study and a wish to further their skills in the discipline.

In the dance audition, you will participate in a contemporary technique class conducted by our staff and you will follow the teacher's instructions and exercises. No prior preparation is necessary. The exercises will be done as a class or in small groups, but there is no solo component. Following the technique class there will be some short improvisation exercises for you to display your creative and expressive capacities with movement. Finally, we will speak with you in a very short interview to give you an opportunity to articulate your goals and aspirations for acceptance into this course. Your academic skills will also be considered.

International and Interstate applicants can contact the Dance staff Sally Gardner +61 3 9251 7351 or Shaun McLeod +61 3 925 17651 and apply to audition on video.
