Dance at Deakin is focused on developing students' physical, creative and intellectual skills, resources and capacities through study and practice in the art of contemporary dance. Our graduates are self-motivated dance-makers and contributors to the wider field of the arts and physical culture.
Dance is taught at Deakin’s Melbourne Burwood Campus, a friendly, and thriving student environment with a strong community feeling.
Students develop practical skills in contemporary technique and choreography while interrelating this physical aspect with theoretical studies in dance history, analysis and aesthetics. Production and research project units place students' work in a public and professional context.
