Deakin's Visual Arts program fosters students' creative and intellectual development, and provides a broad preparation for employment within an expanding arts and culture sector.

Deakin's Visual Arts program offers students the opportunity to develop their professional, academic, and creative interests in the visual arts.

The course strikes a balance between specialisation and diversification. Students can combine their visual arts studies with other academic specialisations in ways that allow them to create individualised career pathways. 

The program has an emphasis on painting and drawing with allied offerings in artists' books, graphic novels, art theory, art and technology, internships, study tours, and interdisciplinary practices.

Opportunities for more detailed and sustained study in Visual Arts is offered at Honours, Masters, and PhD levels.
