The information super-highway is paved by writers, just as the pages of books and the mouths of performers are replete with words written by writers.
Writers have never been more in demand. Why? Perhaps because writers use the most basic, flexible and powerful of technologies – language and the ability to tell stories.
Writing at Deakin explores techniques of creativity, language, structure and editing. It exposes students to forms as diverse as poetry and press releases, film writing and fiction, and it offers insights and entry points into the diverse and ever diversifying writing industry.
Writing at Deakin encourages students to explore the new communication technologies both in the practical realms of professional communication and in cross-genre experimentation and creative production.
Writers have left the metaphoric garret, and student writers at Deakin will learn the practical skills necessary to create and collaborate in work across a range of forms, in writing, film, drama and new media.
