Staff Profiles

Claire Duffy

Claire is a creative writing PHD candidate and she is using the lens of feminist humour to gain new meanings in literature. She will use her own humorous outlook to write short stories which provoke not only a comic response but a thought provoking one. Perhaps even to nudge readers to think more deeply about, how they come to know themselves through the repetition of known stories, but also how an unfamiliar story can be more valuable to the collective understanding than a traditional story. The unfamiliar prompts the reader to question firstly the story and then, hopefully, their own reaction to that story.

Claire has always been a reader and only lately became a writer. She views writing as a powerful tool for voicing that which is not obvious, and that which is not easy - a catalyst for understanding. She writes prose poems and short stories and is inspired by authors who provoke deep thought.
