'You write to communicate to the hearts and minds of others what's burning inside you. And we edit to let the fire show through the smoke.'
- Arthur Plotnik
Jackey Coyle is a publisher, writer and editor who works in magazine, book and online media. Wordy-Gurdy, her publishing business, has just launched Indian Summers: Mumbai and Beyond by Ian Cochrane, a full-colour book of 13 stories, two maps and 100 photographs.
In her work, Jackey draws on experience stretching across music, travel, popular culture, fashion, business, science, health and the media (even managing an Aboriginal art centre!). This wide-ranging practice gives her an edge when it comes to forging links between seemingly unconnected things.
She completed a Master of Arts (Writing & Literature) at Deakin in 2003. As the associate editor of a music magazine, she came here 'to stock up my writer's toolkit'.
Her current projects include e-books, a novel, short stories and features, as well as a long-running blog.
