Sarah Flattley

Sarah Flattley is a fiction writer, community radio writer and presenter ...

... and erstwhile star of many John Waters-inspired student films. (Looking back, this last was probably due to a willingness to wear ball gowns and meat in public years before Lady Gaga thought of it.) She has worked for several Melbourne-based publications, including Explore Australia and 'MCV'. Sarah has completed a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Melbourne, and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Professional Writing at Deakin University. Sarah has taught writing, literature, and English to speakers of other languages. She has recently graduated with a PhD from Deakin University, for which she wrote (with a theoretical exegesis) a fiction novel set in Melbourne about the Irish diaspora in Australia. Wandering Rocks: Truth and purity in the Australian Irish diaspora is this year's recipient of Deakin University's Isi Leibler Prize, which is awarded to a thesis advancing knowledge about multiculturalism in Australia.
