Anastasia Parker
For my internship I worked with an unpublished, amateur, local writer
who wishes to publish her novel. I met her at the cafe where I work,
and she told me about this novel and she needed someone to help her
edit it to a publishable standard. I offered my skills and knowledge
that I have learnt through the course, and she was very excited to
have me on board. During the internship period I read through on hard
copy, and addressed a few key points with her in meetings, then I
began to edit the computer copy using the editing skills I'd learnt
(track changes, style sheets, editing marks, cover letters,
author-editor relationship etiquette). I am very happy to have had
this experience, I have learnt a lot about myself and the industry, as
well as had the chance to practice my skills and gain confidence in my
work.
