2008My internship was at Coast magazine, a quarterly lifestyle publication based in the Phillip Island and South Gippsland region. My project was to work one day a week, over a three month period (from August 2008), on the summer edition of the magazine, assisting the editor and publishers with writing, editing and researching. The key purposes of this internship were to utilise and extend my professional writing and communication skills in a magazine context and gain experience and insight into magazine publication.
The internship gave me many opportunities to gain new skills and apply existing ones. In particular, the experience has broadened my writing range and speed, and significantly increased my confidence in my communication abilities. It has also greatly extended my knowledge of the planning, coordination and tasks required in magazine production.
